Baker Training
Stable World Show Clinic
Kara and Patty gave a 2 hour clinic on
Western Riding in the Watt Arena on October 31st at the Appaloosa World
Show. Many judges as well as exhibitors were in the stands to hear
Patty explain the elements needed to complete in this class as well as
watch Kara demonstrate on her two horses who finished 1st and 2nd in the
Jr. Western Riding class earlier in the week. Kara and Patty explained
how and when to start a youngster on the lead change training. Kara
demonstrated exercises she uses to strengthen and teach body control to
her horses with World Champion Freddy Freeloper. The second hour Kara
set Pattern 4 from the ApHC rulebook and rode Custom Maid Zippo through
the course to show how she would show him in a class. She revealed her
secrets on how to get those plus scores and win the big shows like the
World Show. Kara has
studied Western Riding since she was 15 years old. She started with
training from Kristy Staniforth-McCann. Kara won her first open Western
Riding class when she was 16 years old on Kingweeds Houdini in the Sr.
Western Riding. Baker Training stable has gone on to trained 16
World/National Champion in Western Riding since 1996. It's a beautiful
class when done with elegance and grace by a talented horse and rider.
